newbie looking for love....a 325i

Hi all,

Just joined so I thought i'd pop me head round the door....

I have had a E36 '93 318is (M42) for the past 2 years and have to admit that it has converted me forever! After having some much more powerful and more expensive cars in the past ranging from turbo rice burners to an audi quattro I fell upon some hard financial times so bought a sensible 318is and I never looked back! The amazing build quality, handling & simple maintenance are a god-send as is the fuel consumption (35mpg motorway and 30 in town)....why can't all cars be this well built?!

Well the time has come to part with the 318is and at last get a 6 cylinder. Which is where I could use some advice....323i 325i or 328i?! I will have about £3.2K, which I know isn't alot but should get me something half decent without star ship enterprise milage

I would prefer a Vanos Block, e36 coupe 325i... I think. Anything I should look out for apart from the usual: rear suspension, cooling system, water pump....? Is the 323i better / worse that the 325i and should I be looking the 328i as well for this price?

Thanks for any advice...

welcome!!

don't know much about the differences over in europe... but the 328 should be fastest! followed by the 323 and then 325.

Welcome, not sure what would be best either, Good luck on looking for a car.
Storamin why would the 323 be faster than a 325?

Of course you know about Euro options for the bimmers but in the end it comes down to you. Plus I don't really know about the U.K. and how they do their option groups for that country.

323, 325, 328.....?

thanks for the welcome

I'll have a dig around the other forums to see if I can find a clear engine winner in the e36 323i, 325i & 328i battle. I just want to know what's best in terms of longevity, tunability, least issues, best power & torque, fuel consumption, and the cheapest to fix...I'm not asking much am I?!

Cheers.

i'd say if you plan on modding stick with the 325 or 328.

the 323 has the same amount of torque as the 325 and better gearing. i was very surprised it was faster than my 325.
