Restoring/ upgrading 91 E30 318i
Good morning UBC! My '91 318i has been and continues to be bold and faithful at 309k miles. Its about due for interior (seats), new paint and tire/wheel upgrades. We'll consider an engine swap when the old machine shows signs of tiring. Any suggestions on seats and wheel/tire combo that will fit? 16x7 wheels? I solved an electrical problem yesterday. #10 7.5 amp fuse kept failing (backup lights, water temp, gas gage). When the car was on the rack to re-weld the rear muffler, i sneaked under and used the light to inspect the reverse light cable. It was mangled from contact with the drive shaft. Anyone know the part number for the backup light cable? Btw, the common break at the rear muffler is probably due to not being supported properly. When it breaks again and the muffler is replaced, the installer will firm up the supports. FYI, if you need muffler or cat in So Orange County, go to Rod's Muffler on Camino Cap in SJC. When my E30 failed smog last January, he installed a new cat for $225. The smog test numbers came in so low that the tester feared reprisal by the state's draconian regulators. |
