Hello Everyone

I'm new to the world of Bimmers and just got my first one yesterday although not new, a I've just bought a 1998 318 TDS Touring and when I park it up and lock it sometime after the hazard lights start to flash, If I unlock the car using the keyfob they stop if I unlock using the door lock they remain on, also there's a red light on the front of the center console that flashes on and off with the hazzards. I'm guessing it's something to do with the alarm although the siren isn't sounding. Any ideas? It's got me baffled and stops me leaving the car anywhere for a prolonged amount of time as it will probably drain the battery, I don't want to have to start disconnecting the battery everytime I park up, I've just got rid of my last car because of that, please help.

Welcome to United Bimmer. That's definitely an interesting issue. I've never heard of this happening before.
