G'Day All

G'Day all from South Australia, where we have just experienced the hottest new years day in 112 years. Yay !! Not!

Anyway, found myself drawn to this forum after finding it in Google whilst searching the internet in my quest for the Holy Grail.... in this case the Grail is a Downing Atalanta Supercharger to fit my M44 engined 1997 318is.

Yes.... I drive a Cosmos black metallic 318is in damn good condition. Most of it is standard but I have made some Mods.... M3 style mirrors and M3 style tail lights with all LED lighting... damned effective as well. Headlights are Bosch Projector, but they have been opened and LED "angel eyes" added in front of the lenses and lighting has been upgraded from Halogen to HID kit (Note to all owners who are a bit disatisfied with lighting.... the upgrade to HID was simple, inexpensive and was the single BIGGEST improvement to the car)
Have also added the chrome trim rings to the dials which look fabulous and a chrome trim ring around the gear stick..... Gear and handbrake boots are now black leather with white stitching.

No other real big mods - K & N cartridge filter in standard airbox (I found a Cold air intake too blasted noisy) and I have removed the 6 stack CD Changer, fitted a BMW Business head unit (the one with a single CD instead of a cassette I think it is the CD43) and wired in a Dension iPhone interface...... with a Text capable head unit I can now control my iPhone in it's cradle, scroll through ALL the playlists and have an awful lot more music than a 6 stack CD changer. It's a simple mod as well.....

But I would still like to add 17" wheels, M3 style front spoiler and, of course..... a supercharger. Yes, I could save up and get myself a more powerful Beemer....... but then I would have to start the whole modification track again (... HEY... there's a thought.....) and I kind of like the way my E36 handles at the moment.... it's fun... it's mine

So that's me. I have had issues with a bouncing fuel gauge, which I cured and issues with front wheel bearings which I have changed.

I have found the majority of work is not simple, but quite straightforward. Beemers are well constructed.... SO... if anyone has an E36 and is considering HID lighting upgrade / LED tail lights / M3 mirrors / Dension (or other) iPhone interface / front wheel bearing change / brake rotor change etc and want to see photos of what I have done or seek moral support from another amateur who has already gone through the pain, please please feel free to contact me and I will share with you all I discovered in the course of my journey

If, in return, someone could just point me at a Downing Atlanta Supercharger Kit.......

Cheers All, I look forward to participating

I would like to see how your iPhone cradle worked out for you. Sounds very interesting.
