Hi everybody. My name is Charles or Charlie and I am new to this site and to BMW's in general. I am a retired mechanic (sorry, not BMW's) and have recently purchased a 1991 525i for $400. I got the vehicle so cheap because the lady I purchased it from said it didnot run well and she bought a newer model. I had it towed home and she was right. It didn't run well at all. It would not idle and would just die. Well, I disconnected the MAF sensor and started her up and she purred like a kitten. So now I am guessing I need a new or rebuilt MAF sensor. I gather the one's for the 91 and 92 525i's are not that easy to find. So, I guess I will be using this forum and picking your brains a little, if you don't mind. I guess I will be needing to get another scan tool for this one. My snap-on scanner doesn't have a adapter for the bmw's. Why would BMW make a system that was so hard to download? I guess they wanted you to keep going to the dealer (lol). Oh well, I guess I have said enough for a while. I hope to be a part of your forum. I will need some help on this one.
