Greetings and Sunroof Issue

Greetings fellow BMW enthusiasts!
I'm a recent import to the piedmont area of North Carolina. More importantly,
a new owner of a '94 318 as the username would suggest. My motivations for joining the forum are repair and maintenance interests of course, as well as learning about local events.

I bought a Bentley '1992-98 3-series' service manual, yet inevitably found that repairs are a whole lot easier said than done. My current issue is attempting to adjust the discrepancy in height of the sunroof - one side lowers while the other doesn't. Bentley instructs the reader to "slide sunroof liner back into roof cavity," in order reach the rear adjusting wedges. My problem is that the sunroof liner won't budge and I'm anxious about damaging the mechanism. My question is, about how much force is typically needed to slide the liner back? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all!
