hello
Hey,
So i found this community while doing a google search on service engine soon light in a bimmer. anywayss my name is Matt, im 19 years old and i live in Los Angeles, my entire family is crazy about bimmers, my older brother drives the 2008 335i coupe, my mom drives the 2007 550i , and i drive the 2002 330ci convt. I have the sport package on there too. i recently received this car as a gift from my dad. He bought this for me a week ago from a family friend, and the car only has 43k miles! but like 2 days after i received it the service engine soon light went on.. and i kinda was freaking out. I thought that there is something wrong with the engine, and i needed to spend money on the car already after only having it for 2 days. =( . sooo yeaaa thats about me .
do any of you guys know what i should do and how much this service engine light soon might cost me?

Are you sure it is the service light? if it is it can be that it just needs to be serviced for the amount of miles the car has and light will be reset by the technician who does the work.
If it is the Check Engine light, you should first off go to a mechanic that has the right equipment to check the engine light first. Dealer will do it however they will charge, a reputable mechanic will usually diagnose for free. After diagnosis you can figure out what is wrong with the car and what needs to be done and how much it will cost.
Welcome.

so i was driving on the freeway , and i rear ended someone, because i slammed on the breaks my bumper didnt hit his bumper, but rather my front hood hit his bumper. the radiator broke immediately, with the radiator fluid spilling on the ground. The A/C seems to be dead too, my lights don't seem broken , but more misplaced. I was driving it with the top down, so the anti-roll bars came up. but yea.. less then a week since i had the car.. its very depressing.
I just hope the insurance doesn't consider it totaled.
what do you guys think?
