Hello..

Hey,

As I'm new, thought I'd best do the polite thing and introduce myself!

I've been a proud BM owner for about 4 years now, my first bimmer was a rather lovely 94' 525 sport in black, it was in fantastic condition up until the day I left it at an airport parking place in Liverpool...... Turns out that 'secure car parks' aren't all that secure in the end. Some little scouse scrotes had it away, tried to set fire to it then lanuch it at something, it was found singed with the steering wheel tied up with the seat belt and a weight on the accelarator.

I try not to think about it anymore!

But now I have a slightly less pristine 94' 320 coupe, which is playing up at the mo' too..

UK 1997 316i Touring, My First Car! With Pic.

Hi All,

I just bought my first car, a E36 316i Touring in manual.

I got it because:
I needed an estate for moving things to and from university.
I needed cheap insurance.
I wanted a good handling, manual car that would teach me about RWD control.
I go mountain biking in the Alps (french part, Les Gets) in summer and wanted air conditioning.

There are a couple of problems however (and if moderators could suggest the forums I could post these in, i would be grateful).

1. There is a audible 'buzz' and similar vibration through the brake pedal just before coming to a complete stop. It sounds like its coming from the rear left wheel. The seller told me it could be a dirty abs sensor and the buzz is the abs activating?
2. One of the headlights has alot of condensation in it and is almost always completely misted up.
3. The top 2/3 bars (orange lines) of the rear view window de-mister has failed.
4. There were no instructions for the radio/cassette and I have no idea what some of the buttons do! (picture below)

But overall I am pleased with my first impressions of the car. Look forward to getting to know this forum.

Thanks for you time and I look forward to any responses,
James

I'm a car enthusiast (first word: car), 19 years old and already onto my second car. I still have the first (a 1995 MK3 Astra 1.7DT) which I was given for free because it was wrecked. I spent nearly two years doing it up and now it is nearly finished. Its been on the road for two months and when I finish the last few things I will be selling her on to help me fund this BMW.

The E30 coupe has been a favourite of mine for a good while, and when a 4 door in great condition came up with a recent top end engine rebuild, new shocks and springs, new exhaust and brand new 17s I couldn't resist. I am going to pick her up hopefully some time this week from the previous owner and will be handing him £560 which considering all the work thats been done on it is a fair price in my opinion.

I have no real experience with engines, my experience gained from the astra is in body repair, painting, filling and generally taking the whole thing to pieces out of sheer interest. I worked on wiring, rust and leaks, and generally making it look better. Apart from an oil leak, the astra's engine was good enough for me not to meddle with.

The BMW won't be stripped like I did the astra because I am no longer in school with all the time in the world and no need for a car.

Intro over, let's see who in this forum reads the intro section.
