Hey Ya, Got myself a 98' 328I
so I'm new to this forum but not new to BMW.
name is Matt and I'm on the Oregon coast ( Tillamook).
so I have been driving a 84 318I for over 5 years now ( bought a project car for fun and when it was running I sold off my other auto's ).
318 was getting tired (266k miles) and I decided to start to look for another BMW.
what I found is on the first day I started to look is a 1998 328I 4d black on black leather, power everything, H&K sound with a JVC 12 disc changer, slush box trans. 138k miles.
so I did the deal and I'm stuck with it (love the car I just hate the thought of payments for a few years).
so 1 week after I bought it the cel came on... it was a crack at the maf to throttle body tube, replaced it but the cel wont turn off...
I have a auto enginuity scan tool on its way.
it may be water damage on the post cat O2 sensor (been awfully wet around here)
front struts are getting tired and possibly a ball joint.
rock chip damage on the front end.
possibly leaking heater control valve or heater core (wont know until I change the cabin filter)
its has a new radiator and a alum thermostat housing cover.
well I know I have some work to do, but I love the car, its so much better than the old 318I but I need to get all of the OBDII stuff figured out.
let the fun begin :tup
from the land of cheese, trees and ocean breeze
Nice find good luck with all the M&R fellow oregonian (I'm in ashland)
Hello and welcome to the site :)
Welcome! Matt, to the forum, we have something in common, I just bought my 97' 328i Black on Black Leather, last January & I did exactly what you are doing, bought a OBDII scanner, Bentley manual, found this site: http://www.bimmerdiy.com/dir/e36 , joined the forum, & got to work!!!
Good luck Matt, feel free to pm me if you have any questions.
I also have a blk on blk 1998 328i
Nice car. I have no complaints with my blk on blk 1998 328i. Very good car. Enjoy !!!
How did Auto Enginuity work for you??
I got this back in March and I have had no luck with it working on my 1996 E36 328is. My buddies PA SOft ( china software hack) was able to work and Carsoft, but I cant seem to get it to communicate but with like 3 systems.
Looking for a Hart Top for 1998 328i Black
Does anyone know where I can look to find a hard top for my recently purchased 1998 328i convertible Black/Beige?
