New 325 supereta owner
Hi there, I'm brand new here. I'm Palu from Olympia WA. I was given an "as is" 1988 325 (I'm pretty sure its the super eta 2.7) back in July or so this year. Hardly knew the person. Just took a chance that it could be a total money pit. I had a friend of mine do some shade-tree work on the car and promptly took it on a good road trip down to San Francisco. The car has about 213k on it and i'm really thankful it didn't do anything bad on the way down or back. I have absolutely no service records for it so... guess i'm lucky. Anyway, i'm tackling the timing belt/water pump/v-belts January 1st (next week) 'cause for all I know its way past overdue . Anyway, wish me luck. I look forward to meeting and chatting with you all in the future. Cheers, Palu.

You might want to look into getting the valves adjusted since the higher milage. Also while your doing the timming belt replace the cam seal, which is easy, the seal behind the idler wheel for the timming belt and the crank seal are harder to get to but if they are leaking oil it will destroy your new belt.
Whats the last 7 of your vin, Ill tell you if its a eta or not.

Definitely gonna adjust the valves..or have someone do it for me. I've also ordered new water pump, gaskets, and new camshaft seals - thanks for the suggestion. I put the last 7 of my VIN into RealOEM.com which said that its supereta. But if you want to check, its 8814446. BTW i'm mostly using the Pelican Parts articles as guides for the timing belt and valve adjustment - as well as my Bentley manual. If there's anything not covered that anyone can think of let me know. I'm also as a side thing cleaning the ABS sensors and pulse wheels - did the fronts last night, they were pretty gummed up. Gonna do the rears today, hoping that will get it to work. Cheers.
