Very glad I found this website!
I first rode a BMW about five years ago, after a clown on a mobile phone hadn't noticed that the Audi in front of him (ME) had stopped.
Searching for a replacement car, I found reviews that said the 5-series was the best car for the money ever built. Looked around, and found a 520 i with 60,000 on the clock, first registered in '91. I had four years of comfortable, trouble-free motoring, so when another idiot ran me off the road (minimal damage, but when the recovery truck finished with it....) I looked for another one.
This time I bought a 528i SE, registered in 1997.
This car has turned out to be a total lemon. The previous owner obviously decided to get rid of it before he had to spend a LOT of money on it. Giving chapter and verse here would take too long, but suffice it to say that the supplying dealer settled out of court, the day before the hearing, for £1600. Anyone in a similar position would be well advised to study the Judgement in Crowther v Shannon Motor Co.
(I can give references if anyone wants them).
Still love BMWs, but I guess I am stuck with this one for a while. Crapped out on me again today - hence my return to the forum - but when she goes, she is a beauty!

Seems like there has been an influx of British on here, lately. Good to see diversity.
Welcome. :-)
