Basically. The CSi's are different because they are tuned further... sort of like M engines, but essentially, it's the same thing.

The same basic V8 and V12 engine designs are also in the 745 and 760 now. Lots more goodies attached though.
A variant of the BMW V12 was was used in the McClaren F1 too.

Almost bought a 2002 new in '69 when I was living in Italy.
Couple of arrogant asses that had them disuaded me from being the same as them.
Bought a Kadett Ralley 1.9 instead so I could kick some butt
It was a bit faster than the Alpina stage 2 tuned 2002.
So my first BMW ended up being an E32 7 many many years later instead

My ex would have ended up with it anyway,
Debating what to do a restoration on as a retirement project.
Probably need to do some sort of convertible. Would like to find one of the 6 series convertible conversions but that is pretty unlikely.
