Greetings! power lock problem

Howdy Folks-
I'm a longtime enthusiast and just found this site: currently I have a '96 328i sport pkg/winter pkg which I love, but it has just started giving me some trouble and I want to fix it myself if I can. The battery just died (for the 2nd time!) and I want to get a new one- no problem.

The trouble is, when I got a jump and was letting the car warm up - ~8 degrees of cold that afternoon - everything was okay for the first couple minutes until I turned the lights on. Then everything started going haywire- I'm guessing not enough charge yet to run the lights and accessories connected to it. I turned lights off, revved engine couple mins and then back on- drove to location and power locks weren't working- while car was running. Any chance new battery replacement will 'reset' the locking system and give enough juice for this accessory to work? Door locking fuse is not blown. Please help!

Cabrini.

check the alternator out-put if it continues after you replace battery. The battery probably has an internal short and yes running on low voltage will cause alot of weird stuff.

Thanks! I'm changing the battery today or tomorrow and will check the alternator if it persists. Bests
