Greetings from France

Hi there, recently found this forum and it looks like a great community to be part of, especially being the proud owner of a 'Bimmer.'

My ride is a 316i Touring Lux. I basically chose this model because I'd get hammered by insurance and fuel costs in Europe. Instead I now get hammered by the 325i Touring I would have chosen

However, I'm happy with 'Helga' and am planning some subtle mods. Will start a new thread for that later today.

Bienvenue. Je ne suis pas sur je sait le Touring Lux, votre voiture est comme le 318ti vendu ici aux Etats-Unis? Okay, enough of the showing off that I remember some high school French. I'm not familiar with the Touring Lux moniker, would that be comparable to the 318ti that was sold here, or is it a station wagon or hatchback model not sold here in the US?

Thanks for the welcome guys! Both of your French language skills are better than mine, as I'm a Brit living over here and am still learning: laugh

The Touring that I brought over from the UK is basically what we call an estate back home, and you in the USA, a station wagon. The term 'Touring ' makes it sound that much more exciting though, doesn't it?!

I have actually put a photo on 'rate my car' so you can see it, but it doesn't appear to be showing right now.........

Eh bien, je n'ai pas realise que le Touring etait fait en 1993. Hey, I think I'm doing okay avec mon francais...! Anyway, I didn't realize that the Touring (station wagon) version was made in 1993, at least to my thinking it wasn't available here in the States until some years after that. In any event, here in the States we have a much more limited range of models to choose from, I think due to pollution and crash safety laws and regulations, and to marketing strategies by the manufacturers. If my eyes didn't deceive me last summer while in Europe, I saw a station wagon (Touring) version of the 7-series, which we've never heard about or seen here.
