Calgary Is Flooding Again!!!

Due to heavy rain over the past 10 days, the Bow and Elbow river located in Calgary are at a severe risk of flooding. The water level in the elbow river last night was at 8ft deep, when average for the river durning the summer is only 1-2ft deep. So far over 1500 people have been forced from ther home as the City Of Calgary declared a national emergency. I was one of the people forcefully eveacuated. My house is like 80 ft from the elbow river, but yet police and emergencey grews said that there was a great possibility of my house being in danger from flooding for the first time in almost 80 years. Several friends of mine live along and across the river, so far they have been evacuated but most of thier homes are currently under about a foot or two of water.

EDIT: Here are all of the picures i took. You can see how bad it really is. (btw, can i get a mod to resise these a little? i forgot how big they are)

That's sad! I remember a mudd flow in Banff summer 1999. We had just passed the highway 1a (??? not sure) where after it got closed because of the mudd and rocks on it.

Good luck over there!

heres an update: (my house is fine btw)

Current water level is at almost 14ft. The 2 bridges within walking distance of my house are within one foot of being submerged. Water under the bridges is up to the bottom and so all pedestrian ones have been closed. Streets up too 2 blocks away in certain areas have been flooded. A little park by my friends house in under almost a meter of water.

Wow. That's getting pretty serious Oddly, we are under flood watches here in South Florida. All the puddles near me are about the biggest I have ever seen! I hope it starts to run off in your neighborhood soon!

Dont worry, Tunerworks is far enough away from the river. If your coming to Bimmerfest (i am) from Edmonton or outside Calgary u might wanna go on the city of calgary website cause their are still a bunch of road closers and stuff. But by thursday itl be fine. B_w come find me at bimmerfest, ill be driving a Calypso red 328i

that be hella fun. but the police are REALLY anal about that right now. the plice helicopter (HAWK 1) was flying like 50ft over head to make sure people wernt stupid enough to do it. but alas there were. the police were arresting anyone who didnt live in the areas that were evactuated. And to those in saskatchewan just wait, ur water lever is gonna rise alot more in the coming days.
