TIFF files....

I'm at work right now... I shouldn't be online, but I have no idea how to solve this.

Boss asked me to print out 79 tiff (scanned) images. The original images are approx. 3 feet by 4 feet. He wants me to print them out on 11x17" paper. I go to print settings, change the size, change to all black, select landscape and print. We have an HP5000 laser printer and a HP9800 color printer. The Laser prints a few inches and stops.... the color just stops when it loads the paper. I don't know what is causing these errors. My best guess is that the memory in these printers is not adequate. But I really dont' know... any one have any ideas?

That would be one of my guesses. Another is that IIRC, TIFF's work only with Postscript printers; are your printers Postscript?

maybe change the resolution of the image

i bet its a printer memory prob. convert the tiff to a jpg or something, if there arent many colors, perhaps a gif, or a png.

Thanks for the replys.

They print fine on normal 8.5X11 paper, the only problem is on the 11x17 paper.

I converted the tiff's to jpg's, same deal. Just incase, I also converted to pdf's. Nothing.... whenever I tried to print, it would come out blank. Only once did it print something but only a few inches of the image and the rest was blank.

It's not like these are over 100megs.... each image is like 2megs.

It blows... and the IT department blames our office for our incompetance... so asking them for help goes no where.

The images for the most part are black and white, some have a few lines of color but nothing major.

I tried changing from the standard 1200dpi setting down to 600dpi, still no effect.

So yea... I printed out the 79 images on normally sized paper. The engineer that it was for needed a magnifying glass to read the print. If I can, on monday, i'll post up some sort of sample here so those interested can see what i'm talking about.
