driving school/video camera

hey guys, i went to skip barber racing school for spring break and my dad brought along our new video camera. i can only get the video to play back on a new window. what do i need to do to upload the file to my comp. i have the USB driver installed, but do i need an editing or video program on the comp?? thanx :D

You probably need some kind of importing program. Windows Movie Maker can do it and is free (comes with Windows XP). Make sure you update it to the latest version using Windows Update (version 2) and click File->Import. It'll let you choose your camera and it'll start recording. Just push Play on your camera and when it's done, click stop recording on the computer. Try that out and see if that makes any sense. lol

i just bought a piece of hardware called the dazzle for when I want to make movies, or upload stuff from vid camera. It comes with software that is very similar to movie maker. I had to buy the dazzle because my fmailies video camera is almost 5 years old.

Ah, I've used dazzle before. I got a cheap one so it skips frames sometimes... but the higher level ones are awesome

so far I have only used it once. I will make some vids soon hopefully.
