i've heard you talk about unix...but i don't get it. i've seen screenshots... it loks like a bunch of random code. it seems like it's almost impossible to use unless you already understand the language......kind of like a french woman. Care to explain it (prefferably in detail while keeping it easy to understand)?

Anything you see in linux, the gui part... freebsd unix has too. The pretty part with icons and such is called X.org or XFree86. It's the exact same software that runs on linux and unix. They are identical from the visual perspective. The difference is behind the scenes. Linux is more compatible and easier to use, however freebsd has a more solid and secure core (kernel). The "bunch of random code" you think of when you hear unix also exists in linux, 10 fold. Unix came first and linux was a spin off of it by some egotistical idiot named Linus Torvalds. Linux is a bloated and broken version of unix.

It isn't based on nextstep... it was stolen from nextstep. There was a famous event marked when Steve Jobs returned from a meeting with Nextstep people and went straight to his engineers saying "I want this." They ended up using a modified verision of freebsd called Darwin.

i was just tired of so much spyware and adware and viruses and shiton my pc. i dodn't wanna deal with that shit in school. college is too important for a virus to fuck me over and destroy half my shit (its happened before). the only downside.... no more excuses that my computer crashed and i couldn't finish it or the file isn't working right.
i'm not much of a gamer, so whatever..... well, i'm an xBox type of guy, not a pc gamer.

Plus you cant build mac computer to your specific specs, and the things are outrageously expensive.
pc>mac
windows<all
Someones needs to step up in a major way and create a new OS for pc's, windows is absolute junk.. they have no competition, and until they do they wont do shit about their open registry.
hes right... u cant play any games on mac. and i like to build my computers so windows based pcs ar definatly easier.
