If you are installing OS X 10.4.0 I suggest you use archive and install and not simple upgrade (selectable in options in the install screen) Also you will want straight away the 2 software updates, to 10.4.1 and security update

When I installed Tiger a few weeks back I forgot I had Yellow Dog on a seperate partition . . now it's innaccessible
