Bogus P2P Action

What's the deal with these twenty-plus-minute fake audio files that are nothing but pops and whistles? Is that some kind of RIAA annoyance deterrent system?

komodo 04-18-2005 06:49 PM

Keep in mind on this thread not to say anything that could get us in trouble. keep all questions and answers bordering on legal, otherwise we'll close this thread. Thanks.

I think I'm still in bounds.
Shut 'er down if you need to, just curious.

Oh I know... but there's a line where by allowing it its kinda like endorsing it... I just wanna be careful about this kinda stuff.

And in answer to your question... the RIAA computers are on the p2p networks showing up as the fastest result, so people download from them...but when the RIAA sends their piece of the file, its messed up and screws up the entire real file. It does some crazy stuff with the metadata in the file.

bittorrent is good to download media and stuff, but if you must have something ala kazaalite, i suggest ares

ChrisWorrell 05-03-2005 10:13 AM

honestly, i cant imagine going back to kazaa or any other p2p like it. BitTorrent is the way to go. So much easier. A neat fact also, over 33% of all the internet is bittorrent related. I read this on yahoo news recently. It is the most popular p2p solution

projal147 05-03-2005 11:06 AM

another two places i get alot of my stuff from is:

emule
and
DC++

both are great, bittorrents are good too, but you have to share too much to make it worth it sometimes.

Longhairedhippy 05-08-2005 01:40 AM

i use a version of Kazaa lite which blocks RIAA servers, so I get none of this bogus action.

htp.bmw 05-08-2005 12:30 PM

Kazaa is heavly watched by the RIAA, I beleive that Bittorrent is the way to go. At my school they already have kazaa blocked along with other p2p programs but you really cant block bittorrent.
