Sound Card Issues
Okay, so I haven't had my sound on my computer working in a few days. I had a random zap and the computer restarted. I was like "okayyyy" and when it came back up, no more sound. Drivers were still there in Device Manager, but when I went to the Volume Control, it said "There are no active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices, go to Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click on Add Hardware. This program will now close." All sound related programs say there is no sound device present. I tried reinstalling drivers. Didn't work.
So I rebooted into FreeBSD (I dual boot), and the sound works fine!! Meaning it's not hardware. *sigh* Back to windows. I'm hoping some core part of windows isn't hosed... but other than drivers, does anyone have any ideas for what I can do to fix it without formating? Oh, and in the Sound Properties part of control panel, all the hardware drivers say "Status: Driver is enabled but has not been started." Any ideas? =/ |
