Looking for a book...
Hey dudes and chicks,
I'm looking for a book about forced induction. Generally it is known as the bible for FI but I'm not sure of the name or the author. If someone could throw out few sugggestions about the title or author it would be appreciated.
Thanks
-Matt

I tried that already but I didn't find anything that jumped out at me. I think I may have found the book I am looking for, it's by Corkey Bell. Thanks Dough.
Any one else?

I was loaned something like that from a friend, It was really cool, had all kinds of graphs and equations to explain what is happening to the gases and the engine, It was really cool, did i say that already
hey M power, i see it says your running 7.5 psi how that is on the stock HG right? how much Hp does that give you ? also im lookin to go water cooled but not sure what size to go with, any suggestions what are you running?

what kind of power do you want? that will determine what turbo to go with.
you should be able to run 10psi with the stock head gasket with a good tune.

A gt30R would be good for that, and it would spool quick for a good street machine.
But if you want more, go with a GT35R and a .140" head gasket and you should be good to over 500Hp.
For instance B.W's should be able to do 500+ whp with a .140" thick cometic head gasket head studs and stock internals.
Obviousely you would need bigger fuel injectors and pump for anything over 400whp. along with some other little things
Like B.W. said 10psi will be max. "even with a good tune" on stock engine. higher than that and you'd need a stronger, thicker headgasket and headstuds.
For instance a guy in the US is boosting 25psi on 1997 328 2.8L
with head studs, headgasket and all stock internals and is making 635whp/590wtq. with the stock ECU!!!
Apparantly anything over 700 will bend stock rods.
sounds really good i was lookin at a gt28 think that would be ok also what would be a good turbine housing size for hot and cold?
is yours a 325? i think a 35r might be too big, maybe if you got the smaller exhaust housing, .63 i think. i went with a .82 for my 328. another option is the sc61. i believe it has the same compressor as the 35r except is not dbb and has a different exhaust housing. it is a very capable turbo and is less $$$ than the 35r. dbb will help spool greatly.
it also depends on how you want your car to drive. do you want it to pull hardest in the topend, like your 325 does now, or do you want more low end power? i think going with a laggier turbo will just help with traction issues down low. if you want quicker response go with a smaller exhaust turbine, and for a bigger topend go with a larger housing.
