I wouldn't supercharge it, but I would turbo it. However I'd reenforce everything first...

I tell you what, go visit KO performance in Miami, tell them Rooz sent you and ask for Jo, he's very knowledgeable on Turbos

Here is there site, but they don't upgrade it much.

http://www.koperformance.com/BMW/index.htm

But Jo can get you the best deals around, he gave me a ~$150 discount on a UUC exhaust, while when I called UUC they wouldn't give me a dime of discount unless I bought two things at once. Now when you say 12K I hope that's including instal, lol

EDIT: By the way, am gonna be in Florida from the 24th-27th of this month, one of those days I'll be down in Miami (yes going to go see Jo) I'd love to see your bimmer

From the web:

known cons

Turbocharged: Spool up time, boost spiking.
Supercharged: Parasitic drag.
*heat is detrimental to both.

known pros

Turbocharged: Crank up the boost!, after turbo lag....BOOM! outta here, the psSSSHt! sound (blow off valve, babY!.
Supercharged: Instant mash on the gas HP, no oil line needed, SC whine! (VVVWWWWWWHHHAAaa!)

Supercharger gives a nice gain in acceleration and power through the range, but once you have a big "phat" turbo kicking in they dominate everything

my dads last car was Supercharged and my car is Turbo. The supercharger gave power through all the revs but the Turbo is just much more fun lol
