Post Supercharger and Turbocharger

Turbochargers and Superchargers are air-compressors that are used to suck more air into an engine and compress the air, compressing the air allows more air to go into each cylinder, this also allows more fuel to go into the cylinder which means you get more power from each explosion in the cylinder, the amount of air that the compressor pushes into the engine is measure in pounds per square inch(psi)

A supercharger is driven by a belt connected to the engine like an alternator

A turbocharger uses exhaust gas to spin it's turbine

Shahab's summary is right, and also explains why turbos have lag, having to wait for the exhaust gasses to start flowing. Smaller bi- turbos help by reducing turbine rotation inertia

you can get lag from a lot of things like have a small turbo and a FMIC you can also get it from heat soak.

The only problem I see with superchargers is the fact they can use up to 20% of thier power output simply for operation. Of course, this problem can be opposed by the problem of turbo lag.
