NickG from TechniqueTuning.com

i am proud to announce the addition of technique tuning and its founder NickG to U-B, We are all very lucky to have one of the biggest if not the biggest name in the BMW force induction scene, many consider Nick and his company to be the absolute authority on BMW tuning and with good reason indeed, i have seen and sampled his work first hand and it is in fact all its cracked up to be and so much more.

take full advantage and feel free to pick his brain (as he will yours...), you will find Nick to be very much down to earth and as accommodating as anyone in the industry, he has a wealth of knowledge and he is here to share that with us all.
if you are in the market please consider supporting T.T, their products and services are top notch.

let me the first to welcome you to our community.
cheers.

Hi TT,

Welcome to UB as well!!! I'm actually new to turbos (and this community for that matter) so it's really fortunate for us to have an individual of your caliber inducted. On to my query - I recently acquired an E36 '95 316i which was enhanced by the previous owner with Mosselman turbo and K&N intakes. Love it so far but haven't really learned the ropes yet on how to properly use, maintain and treat it yet.

Can you do me (and some of the newbies in the forum) a quick favor by quickly running us through the pros & cons of installing turbo; in layman's language please : ) AND finally put to bed the issue whether having turbo increases one's fuel efficiency?

Looking forward to your expert advise.

Many thanks,
MA2LIS700

The answer to that question has a lot of 'ifs' and 'buts'. But in general, if the tuning is correct, and the only change is the addition of a turbocharger, then yes, fuel efficiency is improved because the turbo is helping to push air into the engine, so the engine has to do less work. Less work = less load = less fuel consumed.

Many of our Stage1 turbo customers report an increase in fuel economy under light throttle/cruise conditions.
