Hi TT,

Welcome to UB as well!!! I'm actually new to turbos (and this community for that matter) so it's really fortunate for us to have an individual of your caliber inducted. On to my query - I recently acquired an E36 '95 316i which was enhanced by the previous owner with Mosselman turbo and K&N intakes. Love it so far but haven't really learned the ropes yet on how to properly use, maintain and treat it yet.

Can you do me (and some of the newbies in the forum) a quick favor by quickly running us through the pros & cons of installing turbo; in layman's language please : ) AND finally put to bed the issue whether having turbo increases one's fuel efficiency?

Looking forward to your expert advise.

Many thanks,
MA2LIS700

The answer to that question has a lot of 'ifs' and 'buts'. But in general, if the tuning is correct, and the only change is the addition of a turbocharger, then yes, fuel efficiency is improved because the turbo is helping to push air into the engine, so the engine has to do less work. Less work = less load = less fuel consumed.

Many of our Stage1 turbo customers report an increase in fuel economy under light throttle/cruise conditions.

I do.

you don't need as much of the pedal to get to where you want to be turning into less and less use of the loud pedal.

I have to say since the new admins and stuff Ub.c has really taken off... (from the bogged down point it had been of late before).

TT is a great company to have a representative of on the board.
