e92 335i
OK,
I have been reading Germancarfans.com, they are talking about the new Turbocharged 335i, they refer to this car as twin turbo.
Yet, if you read the down a little ways it says there are two turbos, a small one for low end torque then a bigger one for higher RPMs.
Wouldn't this mean that they are not twins?
I guess I am just being a little too technical...
So, if the 335i, 330hp, 2-dr comes out next fall, what the Hell is the M3 going to have for power? Are we going to see a 3 series with over 400hp?
I guess our friends in German are getting tired of playing catch-up with the Asians. So much for the IS350 and the G35.

ok is it e90 or e92?
twin turbo, i think, just means two turbos regaurdless of theiir position. same as bi-turbo, so bi-turbo and twin-turbo mean the same thing. Usually these twin/bi-turbos are sequential meaning small one then big one right after each other, the only case ive seen of them not being sequential was on the bugattin veyron where there are 4 turbos, that arent sequental, b/c if its a straight 6 for instance, they arent gonna have a turbo for every 3 cylnders
oh, and they say the m3 is going to have a V8, b/c it is competing with the audi RS4 and RS6

The 335 is going to have 1 turbo, they were thinking of supercharging it but they opted for the turbo instead. Its going to be pushing about 306hp.
The M3 will come out at 6/07 and have the 400hp v8 m5 engine.

most twin turbo ktis aren't the same. the first turbo in the system is very small and is used to get the big turbo going faster. The main goal of a twin turbo system is turbo without the lag.

Annnd, the e92 335i is now available. Along with the e92 328i.
I think the e92 M3 is going to be released in 2 years from what I hear.

the magazine reckoned the Bimmer makes close to 350 horsepower at the crank, rather than BMW's official 300 hp figure.

Not to resurrect an old thread, but I thought:
Bi-Turbo - 1 small, 1 big turbo; the small turbo spins up first to help get the larger turbo going
Twin-Turbo - 2 identical turbos, splitting the work in half (1 turbo: 3 cylinders for the 335i) to get it going
Man... I can't wait until end of Dec for my 335i... I feel like Cartman on last night's South Park (where he waits for the Nintendo Wii)!

Oh, and go to the part that says: "Explore the All-new 3-series Coupe" at the bottom left. The videos in that make me drool.

Let me add, that there is NO TURBO lag.
The 335i now comes in a Coupe or a Sedan.
And yes, we have 2 335i sedans and 1 335i Coupe. And, yes, that is on my list of things to take pictures of.

The 335i at least in America definitely is twin turbo, and they are both the same size.. they're both smaller than conventional turbos. Each turbo works for 3 of the pistons and because they are small they wind up quickly and don't produce nearly as much lag as one large turbo would. This combo provides 300 lb ft as low as 1300 rpm
