Gas Mileage - Only 13mpg in CIty?
 

I am only getting ~13mpg on my '06 325i (auto trans, mostly in fully automatic mode). This is city driving (actual city driving... Chicago). This is via the computer and counting miles between fill-ups. Is something wrong?

a little more info would help;
a) Brand & grade fuel
b) Miles on the car
c) last maintenance

I'm familiar with "Windys'" traffic so lower is to be expected but if you can give some more info to the above, maybe we can help you get that up higher.

a) Shell 93
b) I have had the car since 9,500 miles. Same gas mileage for about 1000 miles.
C) Got the car from a dealer, so likely it was properly serviced... i hope.

...also, I did use a fuel additive on the last tank and the mpg did not improve.

The (fuel) brand is ok, you might try the middle grade (until summer) also colder temps tend to use more fuel - also next time you use an additive try STP gas treatment (the cheap stuff) It's actually cleaner burning (especially in city driving) than some of it's high priced competitors - due to it's isopropyl alcohol content. Only use it a couple times a year - enough is good, too much is just a waste. A good habit now & then is a good highway cruise also - they tend to load up the plugs when you do alot of city driving - remember, she's "long legged" for upper highway RPMs.
