Upgrading wheels on a 2006 E90 Wagon

Does anyone know the technical details if I want to go to a 17" or 18" wheel for our 2006 E90 wagon?

Can I go with 4 8x17's instead of 2 8X17 & 2 8.5x17 or 4 8x18 instead of 2 8x18 & 2 8.5x18?

For the 17's I was looking at the Type-161
For the 18's I was looking at the Type-195

I am hoping to be able to rotate tires for longer life while getting the look and feel of larger wheels.

Thanks, William

who makes the wheels? You can probably do wider tires all over, but i wouldn't take the backs any narrower then they are now, it was designed for a larger tire in the back for a reason.

Might also want to talk to tirerack they know their stuff.

As an employee of BMW and Owner of Unique Customs Wheels, you won't be able to get the feel of bigger wheels unless you actually go bigger. The staggard fitment really enhances the handling ability build into the car. If you don't want that staggard look so as to gain tire life by rotating, then go with 8.5X17 or 8.5X18 all around. The tires you will need for the 8.5X18 is 245/45/17 or 245/40/18. That will give you +.138% speedometer difference. Meaning if your speedometer reads 100 mph, for example, then you are actually going only 99.86. You never want the speedometer to show a slower speed than what you are actually going. I have a web site if you need BMW Wheels and/or Tires. its www.uniquecustomswheels.com or email me at uniquecustoms@charter.net for a quote.
