E46General discussion and technical help for 1999-2004 3 series cars.
Hey guys, was on my way to pick up the gf from getting her hair done when my driver side rear tire blew up on me. I hough it was maybe a nail or something, but there was a crack and steel showing all the way around the tire on both the inside and outside. Am pimpin the spare (thank god it's not a doughnut, but it's a smaller tire).
But anywho, my car has the sports package and I have 17" M3 rims. What I'll be doing is that I'll replace both rear tires, but what I'd like to do is put wider tires on. The car came with 225's in the front and 245 in the rear.
Question is.... What's the widest tire I can slap in the rear without having to roll the fenders?
Umnitza now provides a mechanic to install all parts ordered right in the box! It's their new "Total customer service program" that will eliminate all the haters and keep incompetents from breaking **** and blaming the vendor! When you are all set simply call INS and they will pick him up free of charge.
But here's the tire.... I'll be looking at it closer in the AM, if I do have a betn rim, then that means I'll be getting some 18" CSL's... if not, then I'll just replace the two tires on the rear to the widest that I can slapp on there
Look at where the crack is, right under the weight.... you can see how the rim seems to be bent....

I'd like to keep the same rim, I just want to slap the widest tire (255 maybe?) on the back rims?

what iw as saying is, no matter what size tire u slap on there(if it fits) the widht will still be the same, b/c if its a 245 it will kinda curl around rather than a perfect fit 225.. oh and from pic 2, yea thats bent, but that def. shouldnt do that to your tires, it may have been the sealant was cracked or something

Good. I was just going to say that we have a "wheel" guy that services our customer's bent wheels. He gets them unbent...and removes scratches, scrapes, rashes along the rim, etc. I'm pretty sure you have one of those at your BMW dealership too.
heh..i bent our 330's rim like that also. Weak Rims.
Good luck on the CSL's. They would look sick.

Look out for the pot holes, thats the thing that scares me the most, besides bottoming out on driveways and such, when i have my 17s on because the low profile is easier to blow out, and bend.
