Fitting a tow bar

I've just had a West Falia detachable towbar fitted to my 2003 320d SE touring by a reputable towbar company- although retro fitted, it is in fact stamped BMW. All is well, except that the bumper cut cover plate that i bought direct from my local BMW (and cost £50 for a 8"x5" bit of rubber!!) to cover the bumper cut doesn't fit properly - it appears to be the right profile to match the lower skirt profile and the size and everything appears correct. The problem is that it doesn't sit correctly - slightly puckered despite very careful adjustment to the cut and i'm worried it will not be secure and i'll lose my 50quid investment! Anyone had similar problems. BMW main tell me that this bumper (normal SE not M style) won't take a towbar retro fitted, but the moulding behind is definitely shaped to allow a bar to be fitted and the cover plate is exactly the right profile. Some thoughts or solutions please as i have a long slot cut off the bottom of the skirt? thanks

My guess is to have a custom shop look it over
