E46General discussion and technical help for 1999-2004 3 series cars.
Hello everyone, I'm another noob joining your fine forums. I'm looking to get an aftermarket exhaust for my 330Ci. I want the extra power and I want it to sound "aftermarket". The only thing is it's still under warranty so I want something that is just simply a direct bolt on swap for the factory one so I can swap out when I take it in to the dealer.
Anyone have any feedback on Scorpion or Remus? Thanks.

Wow, uh.... search button? This has been covered many times. Check out Stromung, Supersprint, UUC, Dinan, AA/

You have three choices, stand behind our troops, grab a gun and toe the line with our troops, or stand in front of them, they can use the extra armor.

I actually did look at 3 of 3 pages on the e46 forums and saw nothing about exhausts. I have no doubt that this has been covered before but I didn't see anything.
What I was really looking for was stuff like; yes I have x exhaust, it sounds great, it was easy to install, or i bought y exhaust and it needed some bending to fit correctly and it really doesn't sound much different from stock.

Reguardless of warranty issues, most bolt on exhaust upgrades are for only one thing, sound. The added power is little. I will say that some do have a vastly larger increase than others, ie Active Autowerke I haven't gotten around to installing any exhuasts on my 328i, but I did do a little searching of my own. AA was used in a comparision test (outside of AA) where AA scored the highest with Supersprint comming in REAL close. Here is the AA page of those results (the orignial page had the actual sounds from each tested exhaust unit on the same vehicle, an E36 M3), Comparision
Perhaps if you do a little googling, you may find that original page, it had the same photos in it with sound clips of each installed exhuast.
There's also UUC $$$$$ and Remus. Both sites have sound clips.
Hope this helps a little,
Dough

Thanks for the info, folks. I had a Dinan exhaust on my old e30, but their exhaust is a little more $$$ then I feel like spending right now. As of right now it's down to the Remus or the AA. It looks like the AA one doesn't effect the factory warranty, if that really is the case this will be an easy decision. Thanks again everyone.
My vote is for Dinan, because I LOVE everything Dinan has about their products. But...you are right about Dinan being more pricey.
I think it'd be worth it. But as somebody else here said....
From what I saw when I was doing my transmission flush you can simply "UNBOLT/BOLT on" an exhaust on our cars. The only one that I think would work that way would be the UUC exhaust system because it''s a COMPLETE swap (hence the high price). I had the UUC exhaust on my last car (1996 328is) it's very cool sounding gives you that mean very sporty sound. If you want something a tad bit more glassy yet aggressive, I would look into the AA and the Rogue IKON. But do read up on the thread that BMWLotAttendant posted. And if you would please send me a private message, I'll give you a BUNCH of links for comparing different exhausts.
One piece of advice. Last year when I was doing some serious research on exhaust I looked into EVERY details of all the ones out there and I read some heavy negative feedbacks on the remus (mainly rusting issues).
Umnitza now provides a mechanic to install all parts ordered right in the box! It's their new "Total customer service program" that will eliminate all the haters and keep incompetents from breaking **** and blaming the vendor! When you are all set simply call INS and they will pick him up free of charge.
Born and raised. I actually just moved back here about a month ago after a 4 year stint in the Army. Glad I moved back during summer or I probably would have died from the climate change between Savannah, GA and here.
Also thanks to everyone else for the info. Knowing that Remus may have rust issues is exactly the kind of stuff I was looking for. Anything that might be rust prone is not a good idea where I live.
