whats up w/ these wheels!?

Hey guys, I just got back from a month in Canada so my m3 sat for a month . Anyway, here are a few pics of an e46 m3 the dealership took in on trade with really messed up wheels. The only thing I can think of that happened to them was that acid was sprayed on there to clean the wheels by the previous owner and never taken off. Have any of you seen this before?

If you look close, I wiped the brake dust off and the black is still left underneath...

Thanks guys

try some chrome polish, or some type of metal polish?

and if it works, it will take you for freaking ever to clean them all

Brake dust that was never cleaned off. My brothers car has little spots where the dust is permanently ground into the alloy from prolonged periods of the wheels not being taken care of. (by no means harry's fault, they've been there since i've known harry, probably from first owner.)

You have three choices, stand behind our troops, grab a gun and toe the line with our troops, or stand in front of them, they can use the extra armor.

That has happend to our M3 and M5 owners before.

A doctor's e39 M5 had messed up wheels just like that because the wrong wheel cleaner was applied and not sprayed off immediately.

Did you try "BMW M wheel" cleaner?
I've tried that before, and it works all the time. But not on this dr.'s M5. He traded it in on a new M5.

Yea, they used the wrong wheel cleaner on them. They used an aluminum wheel cleaner that had a high content of acid. (Not for a polished/clear coat wheel) And then didn't get it all off and brake dust just added to the mess. Seen it a bunch of times. It would be easier to have them acid dipped & redone.
