Steptronic Change

Does anyone know if it's possible to make a standard automatic into a steptronic automatic just by changing the components and the transmission software? Can it even be changed?

I don't know if it can be changed (as a n00b, I would say yes...) but why would you want to.... I have an automatic and have driven the steptronic, and to be honest with you, I'd rather have my automatic, the steptronic is a wanna be manual. It's annoying, and for me, I couldn't hold back a shift like it's ment to do, damn thing still shifts like an automatic, so what's the friggin point?

That doesn't sound plausable with the same components to me.

The point would be in autocross or track driving. The automatic likes to upshift when you get off the gas into the corner and then downshift rather abruptly when you get on the gas getting out of the corner. Makes for an interesting experience I bet.
