Engine Management Problem
Hi i have a 99 E46 1.9 auto saloon and i have noticed that after long journeys of between 100-200 miles my engine management light has lit up the car seems to be running fine but seems to be idling a little bit too rough. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Id be grateful with any help or suggestions.
How many miles on your ride? As "X" mentioned, at first it does sound like O2 sensor(s) but more info would be helpful. How's air intake? from air filter thru to intake? Clean? Maybe cracked vac lines or bellows? Last fuel filter change? (With the volume & varities of fuel available and the urge to get it to market quick - I've been reading & hearing ALOT of issues that quality control is being sacraficed and alot of moisture/condensation is showing up at the pumps. And it's not any 1 country specific)

Thanks folks, sorry for wrong description i meant CEL. The car has 46000 miles. I did have a problem with one of the air intake pipes not sure which one but my mechanic made up a piece of pipe could this be causing the CEL to light up would you think? I am dropping it into the garage tomorrow and should have codes then, would appreciate some help deciphering these. Thanks again.

Cheers lads appreciate all the help I got my car looked at and it is the 02 sensor thats causing the ECL light to come on. I was quoted €120 ($145) part only to replace it does this sound reasonable?

That is pretty high, but it is an e46. On my e36, I found one o2 sensor for 70$ thru an internet mail order company. On 96+ later there can be anywhere up to 4 of the o2 sensors I think.
