Philips Silver Star Headlights

I just installed 4 new Philips Silver Star lamps in my 323 yesterday, and I have to say that I'm incredibly impressed with them (aside from the installation being a pain in the ass trying to get the assembly locked back into place).

They were well worth the $80 I put into them as the white light they throw off is bright and very clear.

Now, the one thing I got hung up on was trying to replace the right front front directional bulb. For some reason I was unable to find the 'clip' that's mentioned in the owners manual that releases the housing from the 2 internal slots in the fender. I stopped prying around in the opening for fear I was going to break the piece of plastic I 'thought' might be the clip.

Has anyone been able to sucessfully remove the housing with little to no trouble? If so...please let me know what the HELL I was doing wrong?

Refering to the install of the headlights, you should've checked out my DIY: E46 Headlight Replacement

I had the same problem with getting it back in.

Now, about your directional housing... is it the side marker or the blinker next to the headlight?

If it's the one next to the headlight, there should be a hole along the fender where the fender meets the signal where you could insert a proding instrument (like a scew driver or something). That hole leads to the clip that you have to push down. It's a few inches down. It should be just straight down. I know that really means nothing since you've tried, but it's gotta be right there, 3 inches down.

Actually I used your DIY Dough...and it was a huge help...only issue I had was with a single unit wouldn't snap back into place...irritated the shit out of me.

Fuck me that was a lot easier knowing where the damn latch was. It just took me 5 minutes to change both bulbs out...well, at least I know for the next time.

Thanks Dough!
