Aftermarket Cruise Control

I recently purchased a 2000 323i and one of the features I'm missing more than I thought I would is cruise control. Anyone know of an aftermarket cruise that I can add?

Here's one http://www.audiovox.com/webapp/wcs/s...ductId=&brand=

Choose which of those you like and I'll get you a price... I can probably speciall order those since we sell Audiovox stuff

*points up* Rooz works for Tweaker/Hifi Buys, so he has the hookups.

And on that note, welcome to UB! :wave

Have any pics of the 323? :D

your 2000 didnt come with cruise control? wow. i would have figured that was a obviosu standard thing. i mean my 85 has it

BMWLotAttendant 03-18-2006 03:16 AM

Are you sure you are looking in the right place? :confused

I mean, not to be rude at all, I just want to help and clarify for you....but most e46s should have cruise control.

Or is it an option?

The cruise is on the stearing wheel....

Does your stearing wheel look like this? :dunno

If there isn't anything on the stearing wheel....you DON'T have it.
He's probably right. :doh

In that case, I've never heard of an aftermarket cruise control.
Sorry. :(

Unless someone swapped out steering wheel, I can't say that I've seen a BMW after early 80's w/o cruise, unless it's a Euro car. (some folks also swap out wheels for sport versions or the cheaper option than fixing an air bag) :dunno

My 2000 z3 doesn't have cruise control. My 94 325 does.

nick_318is 03-18-2006 04:54 PM

No cruise control, and to be honest I have never used cruise control in any car I have driven

doughboyea 03-18-2006 05:18 PM

Wow, didn't think that a "luxury" vehicle would come w/o one. I know my E46 has one. And yea, I use it sometimes on my commute, to save gas.

actually, you can get better mileage driving with your foot. running the cruise control requires extra current, burning more fuel.

BMWLotAttendant 03-18-2006 10:15 PM

Soooooo

The answer is....

1)Don't get cruise control because of better mileage?
2) get a new stearing wheel? (will that really work?)

I'm confused. :confused

witeshark 03-19-2006 12:00 AM

Well, I'm told that cruise control really saves fuel by making shorter throttle changes. You know, that makes sense :type

He's right, you can get mileage with your foot vs cruise. Cruise doesn't have a concious view of the road, where you can back off in advance or accelerate at a milder pace.

When I'm on a level road, no hills, my cruise control keeps me in the 40mpg range, of course, granted, when a hill approaches, my mpg drop, but it's not as much as if I were to use by foot. It could just be that my driving habits are different than some.
