Not a good thing
Okay so today I was driving around places and I went to turn left and I took my foot off the brake and stepped on the gas and the car kinda froze before it started accelerating. It was a long enough pause that I though to myself "Oh S***!" because it felt like I couldn't go. Anyone else have a problem like this occur? This really wasn't cool.

I've heard of this before.
When you pressed the gas, how long did it not engage the gear until it accelerated?
Do you have a manual?

Yes. I have, but mine stalled. Vanos Control Unit Failure. Seems to come from the 1999 to 2000 3 series E46. Doesn't happen to all of them. But, if you do a little searching, you may come across it. It may not be your problem, but it was mine. Another symptom are when you do a cold start, in the morning, drive a little <1mi. Press the brake, come to a stop and watch the RPMs. Mine would dip to stall, then bounce backup aggressivly, and if you don't move, eventually, it'll stall.
When I was driving in the city, I had my lights on, was driving, came to my turn to make a right. Stoped with the brake, turned on the indicator, when clear, turned the wheel and pressed the gas; the car hesitated big time...and she just rolled to a stop. Freaked the shit out of me! I'll add the link when I find.....

Here.... Stalled, need advise

Well my cars an automatic, and when I put the gas to the floor the RPM did not change, that was what the pause was. It was only for like a second, but long enough that it scared me. I tried it in Sport mode (S2,S3,S4) and it stopped doing it then, and I haven't had any problems with it since then. It only did it like 2 times.

Yeah I have had that happen to me before. Usually when you floor the gas, it will accelerate just a bit, pause and then full blown acceleration. Think this is normal (?)

My car is an automatic too.... how long have you been driving ur car? I only ask because when you hammer down on the gas, sometimes, the wheels slip. Hence, the traction control comes on and the car hesitates while gaining traction... does this seem like the senario? If it would, the traction control indicator would flash in the dash...

I was just throwing it out in general... not trying to put anyone down.... Those two things that I've mentioned (stalling and DSC) are the only things that I have experienced that have come close to what RSF5 mentioned.

I believe in some cars there is a 2 stage dsc (i have never seen this and can't say if its true or not, but I have heard it mentioned at some drivers schools). I also can not tell you what it does or how it works.
