E46General discussion and technical help for 1999-2004 3 series cars.
Alright, I'm on the way home and exiting the shopping center parking lot. The brake pedal goes all the way to the floor and the DSC light comes on, but the brakes still have some grab. I decide to turn around and take a look-see. I look underneath, nothin', check the master cylinder, full. I roll around the lot a bit testing the brakes and they're still going to the floor. I turn the car off and re-start a couple times with no change. I determine I can make it home and about 2 miles down the road the brakes are back to normal.
Thinking back, the car seemed sluggish drifting in nuetral(5 spd) and I actually checked the e-brake to ensure it wasn't engaged.
Anyone encountered this ?

The car was on, I was driving it. I could push the pedal all the way to the floor where it finally offer ed some resistance. This morning with the car off, I could push the pedal passed normal but not to the floor, and with a few pumps had plenty of pressure.

I suspect it has more to do with the dynamic stability control than the brakes themselves. Just a guess, I have no experience with E46's though. Does it happen with DSC engaged or disengaged?
UPDATE: A few days later I get out of the car after driving and smell the unmistakable smell of brakes. The passenger side rear wheel was as hot as a frying pan. I didn't hear or feel a thing. I let it cool and limp home, now the DSC light is on and I have little brakes, like the first time this happened. Turns out the caliper was frozen (at least intermittently) and this was affecting the DSC. Best part, warranty covered the repairs.
