when I took mine in a month ago for the 60k, they ran Inspection II, told me my steering pump was shot, told me I needed new control arm bushings (again) and that I needed new tires. you do the math. you'll probably jsut pay for Inspection II.

Your best bet is call the dealership(s) in your area and shop them for the Insp.II. It varies ALOT depending on the market area. In Las Vegas it's $800+, in Orlando it's $475 - depends on "what the market will bare" (competeion, labor rates, etc..) You might also ask about "misc. costs" - things like fluid disposal fees, shop materials & other misc costs that "sneak" into the formula. Things like brake flush, O2 change are all extra. I can get you factory checklist if you want one (tech's checklist)

Hey Timboy,
I recently had this service done on my 328i E46. Here is what their reciept shows.
From Hunterdon BMW in Lebannon, NJ (6% tax)
INSPECTION II / E46 ACTIVATED CARBON FILTER
MA96 Inspection II / E46 Activated Carbon Filter 58 Vouglas, Todd LIC# xxxx
Inspection II service $320.10 (3.2 hours)
1 Oil Filter Insert $8.60
7 quarts of 5W30 Synthetic Oil $28.00
1 Window Washer Fluid $2.35
1 Fuel Add $2.10
1 Micro Filter $40.70
1 Air Filter $23.68
Total: $425.35
Just as a side note, they also installed:
Factory Alarm $435.80 (1.4 hours, parts=$300)
Front Control Arm Bushings $446.32 (3.0 hours, parts=$155.32)
Drive Belts (X2): $205.67 (1.4 hours, parts=$69.87)
Grand Total $1604.12
Mind you, this was the cheapest that I could find in my area. The most expensive asked $1000, where the only addition was the changing of the break fluid. Shop around you area. Hope this helps.
Dough

Thanks Dough, I appreciate the info.... I'm going to let Hank Aaron BMW do the work.
He will cut me a good deal since he and my dad are pretty good friends.
Besides, he has a soft spot for ex-baseball players.

Hey man, I just had mine done less than two weeks ago at the dealer here in Wisconsin. They did try to sell me on some winter tires, but I didn't take. I ended up paying $415 dollars after my BMW CCA members discount. Saved me 45 bucks. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
