Bmw 325CI Overheating Please help
Workin on a E46 325Ci thats been overheating i replaced the thermostat replaced the water pump checked the heater core valve i guess you kno the valve tht gives u warm air for your heater but anyway it functioned jus fine and when i fill the tank up with water it gets full but the water dont seem to go any where unless i take the bleed screw out all the way ive tried bleeding the system multiple times. Can anyone give me any suggestions?
What have you been adding water too? The coolant resevoir? You replaced the water pump and the thermostat, but what temperature rating was the thermostat? Is the radiator aluminum or plastic? I know that the E36 radiator is plastic and was prone to failures. Im not sure if the E46 solved this, and i dont know the year of your car. As Big Evil stated it may lie within your radiator, so a good place to start would be to flush your rad out and see if their is any build up or deposits. BMW reccomends only using BMW blue coolant, and i have heard a few stories of people using orange coolant (DexCool) and it clogged the radiator.
Were you adding water to the radiator? Was it just water or coolant to? If the radiator is the stock plastic one it may be broken or clogged. If you have replaced the water pump an thermostat and it is still having problems then as Big Evil said it may be a problem with the radiator. Have you checked the hoses? Now may be a good one to upgrade to an aluminum radiator.
