engine squeal
i have a 99 318i 1.9 after the engine has been running for a while i get a squealing/screaming sound from the engine.
i have checked the belts alternator etc they are all fine.
the noise is from the vac system somewhere any ideas would help.
Also when i try to take the oil cap off with the engine running i cant because the suction is this normal

Could be a bad pcv valve. I've seen a number of beemers through my shop the last few months with similar complaints and it has been predominantly bad idler pulleys. Have had a frozen water pump, and a couple of hooter valves (pcv's).
