2000 328ci cluster problem

Hi everyone this is my first post at unitedbimmer. I hope someone hear can help me with my situation:

I bought a 2000 328ci with a salvage title. I fixed everything and when I took it in for inspection, the inspector said the airbag light was on and that i had to turn it off (the air bags didnt depoly). so i asked around in Edmonton Canada and no one could figure out how to turn it off they tryed reseting the code and it never worked. My mechanic without my acceptance, got sick of trying and decided to pop open the cluster and break the airbag and seatbelt light bulb , so now the lights neither turn off or on. I noticed right away and so did the inspector. I made my mechanic buy me a used odomoter since he wrecked the original, and I told him i was going to take him to court for what he did. He ended up leaving the country a week later. So i put in the used odomoter and instead of telling me 130000 Kilometers it now says 178000 Miles which is close to 285000 Kilometers, which is wayyyy more then double the original. Do you guys know if its possible to program the current real kilometeres onto the used odomoter? thanks any suggestions would really help

You have to take it to a dealer and have it adapted with the original unit. Only a certified mechanic can do it (legally at least) there's paperwork involved, and they'll be able to figure our the Air Bag light as well. That would be on all the time if there was a permanent hard fault in the system......like a cut wire, that just clearing the code will not solve.

sorry for the late reply... i forgot to mention that last week a different mechanic cleared the airbag light, i then took it to the inspector today and he called me to tell me it would fail because the airbag light turned on again, which is really weird since it was off all week...so i researched a bit and i think if i purchase a battery positive terminal repair kit i should be able to fix the possible faulty wire issue....now for the odomter i spoke to both bmw dealerships in edmonton canada, and they both told me that it is impossible to put my current mileage onto the odomter i just purchased...they got their answer from the bmw canada engineers... I'm clueless on what to do with this vehicle i cant think of any more possible solutions that i havent attempted yet. thanks anyway for your reply
