Key fob Problem E46

Help!!!!

Guys my key is driving me crazy! I have a BMW E46 (323) 2.5 V reg 1999 auto. The key is very temperamental, it only opens the door occasionally, and closes it perfectly all the time. The remote opens the boot perfectly, but it just will not open the doors. In addition to that when I used the keys to open the driver door, the central lock does not work therefore only the driver’s door opens and everyone have to get in through the driver’s door. The is sometimes quite embarrassing and just inconvenient.

Please can someone help me?

Thank in advance.

sounds like your key is going bad. some times the button will just well wear out the open button is used most but I really don't know for sure. but if it opens the doors at all that means the receiver and the key are receiving and sending signal. so that is the only thing that makes sence to me

I have exactly the same problem with my 2000 323i. The key works sporadically and only opens the driver's side sometimes. The lock and trunk work fine. What my workaround sometimes is to press the lock button and try unlocking it again. Sometimes doing this a few times works, otherwise, get into your car, turn the ignition on, even start the car if necessary and then hit the central lock. This usually always works. It's still a little embarrassing but I've never had to have someone climb in through the driver side. Has anyone asked the dealer to reprogram it???
