325ci e46 stereo illumination
 

The stereo illumination on my car is not working. There is nothing so I cannot read any cd info bass,treb, or even radio stations. This is obviously not a big problem but an annoying one. The stereo works fine otherwise and steering wheel buttons also work fine. I checked the fuses with no luck. I was going to pop the pannels off and take the stereo out to check the illumination wire (which i think is red/gray) but thought i would check on here to see if anyone else has had this issue and can maybe save me some time. Cd player is standard factory single cd in dash. Thanks a lot!
