taking the stick shift knob off.
 

Hi Guys

Been doing some reading and just wanted to confirm some information from what I've read on the web. I have an automatic 2002 BMW 330xi. In order to remove the stick shift knob all I have to do is pull up really really hard on it? And it should come off?

I tried twisting it and I think I broke something cause now it can turn about 90 degrees. still works but its loose now. Should have done some more reading before trying to just twist it. I have read many examples of how to remove it on manuals but haven't found one that addresses automatics. Just wondering if they are different.

Second question is anyone have any experience removing the central vent? I've managed to get the everything below it out but when it comes to the vent it seems stuck in there good. Any tips or tricks anyone can share on removing it? Thanks
