Keyless entry - United Bimmer Community

Is it possible for the batteries to go bad in the keys? And if so, can they be replaced? My keyless entry quit working, I have left the key in to charge I have tried to reset the key and nothing works. I bought the car used, and it only came with one key.

The batteries for keyless entry have to be replaced eventually.

Actually that reminds me how do you replace the battery in the key for the e30?

For e46 2001's they have the diamond shaped key which is recharged when in ignition. 99 and 00 keys you can replace the battery. More then likely indycar your going to need a new key. Theres a slim possibility it has just lost its programming and needs to be reprogramed to the car which dealer ships should do for free.

e30 keys you push down the rondel and side out to the right.
