Rear deck ratle fix

So i have the Harmon Kardon option on my car. The rear deck is known to rattle, because basically things get loose with time.

So i took off the rear deck subs(6x9's) with a 8mm wrench. Then i took a small hand towel and stuffed in evenly into the rear deck speaker area(under the rear deck between the frame...and holy shit.

no more rattle. easy fix. ten minutes.

so if you have a rear deck rattle with harmon Kardon premium...just stuff a towel back there.

make sure you put it in front of the sub woofer holes, otherwise ull muffle the sound.

That's what a lot of guys at the shops do for trim rattles. There is also an updated decklid for that car.

SIB 65 13 01

Vehicle produced up to April 2003.
New parcel shelf with additional holder in the middle.

Part # 51 46 6 955 325 anthracite
..........................326 gray
..........................327 mint
..........................328 sand beige

It's a pain in the rear to replace it, too. You have to cut out the holes for the trim and child seat mounts.

how do you go about actually emoving the old one?

you have an idea how much it would cost? Even though the towel works, a new deck would look better cause the old one is getting dirty.

TECH 12-03-2007 10:34 PM

I have no idea on the part, probably over $100, and labor would be about 3 hrs (all that blammed cutting). You can call your dealer with the part number and see what it costs.

Dude. I am So doing that. My rear deck rattles like crazy and drives me up the wall. And it rattles while driving, not because of the speakers, so there is no getting away from it.

thank you for the idea.
