the fuel filter is directly underneath the drivers side seat on the undercarriage of the car.
There is a metal shroud covering it. Shroud is held on by two bolts. Bend it back, remove the clamps. Pull out the filter and replace.
assuming your 325 is an E46..which i think it is.

Thanks! This is an awesome forum! For future reference, do you know where the fuel pump is?

fuel pump is probably in the gas tank. just a heads up, if your car only has 30K on it you probably dont need to be replacing any of these things yet, neither your tranny fluid, fuel filter or fuel pump, of course, it wont hurt but you'd just be wasting your money
EDIT: and numark, he has an e90 i believe, if it was a 2dr it would be e46

No I was not going to change the pump. Just was wondering for future reference after the warranty expires if it fails. I was going by this maintanance schedule listed below. By the way, I think it is an e90. 4 door.

hm..well not %100 percent sure then on the placement. But assuming they didnt move it too far. the fuel filter on my E30 was on the same side just that it was underneath the rear seat.
Fuel pump, most likely is in the tank. I was looking on realoem.com and it seems the filter is built into the fuel pump? what the hell.
You may want to check www.realoem.com and search fuel filter. Its also a good site to reference part numbers and some part locations

It would seem from your recent posts that you're a bit nervous about your car purchase. Prevention is good and gathering info for later is great too, but don't be afraid to simply enjoy the car; it's practically brand new, and should need nothing yet. Don't get all crazy about what you read, especially on the internet . . it doesn't mean all this stuff you read will happen to you. How about some pictures? Show off the car
