Hey I just paid $4 for the wiring schematics for my 325i e46 2001 4 dr sedan. I was useless for what I need.
MY question is if anyone knows the wiring info for installing colored gauge face plates.

DIY-Clored gauge face plates
Has anyone here installed the Gauge face plates and if so
Where can I get wiring info on the 325i e46 2001 4 dr sedan so I dont mess up the entire panel. There are a lot of wires behind the dash, Where does the connection happen.
Does anyone have pictures of the process.
Thanks
Piero

the face is just an overlay, you dont have any wires to worry about, pull the cluster out and remove the plugs, then the needles and then you can peel off the face and replace it with the new one.

This is what the El-Glo overlay gauge faces look like.
I have no idea where the switch is suppose to end up. Also having difficulty understanding the directions they enclosed.

I purchased wiring info from Wirediagram.com on my make and model car.

When do you want it to glow? When you put the key in, or when you turn your parking lights on?

thanks
I would like them to go on with the lights. The wire diagram that I purchased lists the parking lights as Security
Parking Ligths
FORTH WIRE FROM THE LEFT LOOKING AT SWITCH IN RIBBON CABLE
(WHAT IS SWITCH IN RIBBON CABLE AN WHERE IS IT LOCATED)
Also if you look at the picture of the wires for the gauge faces, there is a switch that allows the change of the LED from Blue to Green and the intensity of the color, where would I mount this.

there are also more male plugs than female inserts, then there are two loose ends one Black (positive) and Red (negative) but the directions do not mention anything about this. the wiring diagram for my car does not mention whether this connection is +/- like toher items on the diagram list, should I attach one or the other

IF I were you, I'd buy a test light and just test to see what wire gets some power when you turn your parking lights on and just tap into it for those gauges.
